It’s winter in Mammoth Lakes, and that means it's time to go skating!

The Town of Mammoth Lakes is excited to open the Mammoth Lakes Community Recreation center, featuring the LA Kings Ice at Mammoth Lakes, an indoor ice skating facility.

Programs and Pricing

This winter the LA Kings Ice and Mammoth Lakes will offer a full complement of public skating sessions, learn-to-skate programs, adult pick-up hockey, figure skating classes, a fast-growing youth hockey program, and curling. You can also rent the rink for the exclusive use during designated periods. Click to view the full schedule.

Adults age 18 and up can skate for just $16. Seniors 65 and older, and military personnel with ID can skate for just $14.50. Youth ages 6-17 skate for $14. Kids 4 and under pay just $5. Admission includes skate rentals.

During the holiday periods of December 17-January 1, January 14-16, and February 18-20 the rink is primarily programmed with public skating sessions so there are plenty of opportunities to get out on the ice with your family during your vacation. While at the rink, children 4 and under must skate with an adult and children 10 and under must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Amenities

Hot beverages and snacks are available for purchase, and you can gather around the picnic tables to take a break from skating. Check out the new indoor warming area with cubbies to stash your gear.

The Ice Rink staff have been busy sharpening the full fleet of rental ice skates in preparation for opening day. Skate sharpening services are also available to the public.

My daughter is becoming a more proficient skater but often asks to rent the Bobby® seal training aid. It’s an adorable tool that kids can push around the ice or sit on to rest. Other learn to skate aids are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Special Events

There are several fun-family-oriented events scheduled at the rink throughout the winter season. Santa visits the rink for a special skating session throughout the holiday season. Looking for a family-friendly way to ring in the New Year? On December 31, the rink hosts the annual East Coast New Year’s Eve party with a countdown to the arrival of 2024 at 9:00pm. Watch for special promotions like Free Skate Night, encouraging everyone to give ice skating a try, and check out the Winter Youth Hockey Classic in January to watch local kids show off their skills in an exhibition game.
