After spending 13 years on the board of directors for the California Travel Association (CalTravel), MLT Executive Director John Urdi has been selected to serve on the organization’s Executive Committee. The Executive Committee’s purpose is to support CalTravel by directing management, strategy, and investment.
As a board leader, Urdi will work to ensure the smooth and efficient execution of the organization’s advocacy initiatives. He will serve as a voice for Mammoth Lakes within California’s tourism and travel industry, fostering dialogue, relationships, and partnerships among industry stakeholders.
“CalTravel…has been instrumental in helping Mammoth Lakes Tourism with challenges like TBID legislation to make sure we are able to provide for support to our community,” says Urdi. “I look forward to joining the executive committee and helping shape the future of the organization.”
CalTravel provides resources and toolkits to travel and tourism industry members and affiliates. Pertinent tools include the latest statewide tourism research (courtesy of Visit California) and toolkits for cannabis tourism, legislation, sustainability and stewardship, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) – all current topics for the California travel industry.
“We are thrilled to have John join the Executive Committee of CalTravel,” says CalTravel CEO and President Barb Newton. “His impressive leadership at the head of Mammoth Lakes Tourism, his deep experience in the tourism and ski industry, and his understanding of the power of advocacy will be an asset to our organization.”
