Seems like Winter 23/24 just ended but Mother Nature is ready for the Mammoth Mountain opening day; are you? Mammoth Mountain opening weekend officially kicks off on November 15 (conditions permitting).

Opening Day Festivities at Mammoth Mountain

First Chair & Banner Breakthrough

The mountain is open for skiing and snowboarding at 8:30 am on November 15, but if you want to get first chair you’ll have to line up early. In years past, dedicated skiers and snowboarders have camped overnight in line at Broadway Express, sleeping on the snow to secure a seat on the first chair. The first 100 people in line for the chair will recieve a free 24/25 Mammoth beanie.

Even if you aren’t as dedicated as the first chair campers, you’ll want to arrive early to Main Lodge to partake in the festivities. Coffee and hot cocoa service will begin at 7:30am.

As the clock strikes 8:30 am, officially kick-off the season by joining Woolly, Mammoth Mountain's popular mascot, for the annual first chair and banner breakthrough.

24/25 Annual Season Toast

After morning laps, join in the midday festivities at one of the on-mountain venues. You can’t miss the toast to the new 2024/25 season at 11:00 am on the Tusks sundeck at the Main Lodge!

Live Music

After the toast, there will be live music on the Tusks Sundeck by the Tim Apple Band until 3 pm.

Off-Mountain Celebrations

If you are looking to embrace the spirit of season opener both on and off the hill, there are events happening all weekend around town to keep the excitement going.

Ski and Snowboard movie premieres are a mainstay of opening weekend, so be sure to check the local paper for all possible screenings around town. Wave Rave will kick off the season by hosting an Opening Day Party on Friday, November 15 with Schoph and Jamie Lynn. Head to their Mammoth Lakes location at 6 pm for a mural unveiling, giveaways, and two movie premieres. They will show Flat Earth by Bataleon at 8 pm and Forever Freeride at 9 pm. Afterwards, head over to Liberty Sports Bar and Grill for the afterparty!

Outbound Mammoth will be hosting a Double Header Movie Premiere Party on Friday, November 15, starting at 5 pm. The night will start off with a Donut Shoppe x Beyond Medals pop-up and aprè happy hour drinks followed by three movie screenings. End the night at the after party with DJ Concise Kilgore and DJ Lexi Stellwood.

Minaret Cinemas will be showing Warren Miller's 75 throughout the month of November. This movie showing is part of a two year party to celebrate 75 years on the snow with Warren Miller so do not miss this event.

Lakanuki will be hosting different DJs the week of Opening Day starting Thursday, November 14 and continuing throughout the weekend ending with karaoke on Sunday.
